AFTER THREE YEARS of planning, Microsoft has pulled back the curtains on its new Dublin office next door to Leopardstown Racecourse. The purposely designed building has 34,000m2 of flooring with ARDEX product used on every square metre.
This new HQ building was purpose built to house Microsoft’s 2000 strong Irish workforce in a modern and open plan environment. The buildings ‘Harbour’ entrance area on the ground floor leads to a full height atrium incorporating a ‘digital lake’ of blue LED floor lighting. The building has no individual offices, with teams sitting together in ‘neighbourhoods’ with constant interaction among team members. In addition there are over 80 meeting rooms and space to seat over 3000 people.
Solution
ARDEX Building Products were involved at an early stage of the project to put forward our recommendations to the design team. This large project involved the installation of 8000msq of Engineered Wood flooring, 5000msq of Tiling, 1000msq of Polished K80, 3000msq of Resilient flooring, 15000msq of Carpet Tiling, and the main atrium area consisting of 1200msq of A23 Rapid Hardening cement screed with underfloor heating around the Digital Lake.
