The Titanic Building in Belfast has become a major new tourist attraction for Northern Ireland, one hundred years after the birth of the world’s most famous ship. The architecturally unique building had its grand opening on 31 March 2012. The massive 14,000 sq.m structure spans six floors and stands as one of the architectural triumphs of the city.

The architecture of the attraction was designed by CivicArts with Todd Architects as the lead architect. Harcourt Developments were the main contractor on this project. Working alongside the architects and the project management team, ARDEX Ireland recommended the following products for this development:

ARDEX X7g Plus Adhesive: Independent testing at Ceram Research has confirmed ARDEX X 7 G Plus achieves approximately 20% more coverage per kg compared to traditional tile adhesives. It is ideal for all tile types including fully vitrified, porcelain and mosaics. Additionally it is suitable for both internal and external application.

ARDEX FS Grout: Advanced manufacturing processes ensure uniform colour distribution of this grout powder which eliminates ‘streaking’ during mixing. The ARDEX FS Grout is water repellent and dirt resistant, is suitable for wall tiling and narrow joints in floors.

ARDEX K11: This smoothing and levelling compound was the ideal product to use for the flooring of the Titanic Belfast. With rapid hardening, this compound is safe to use with underfloor heating and is pumpable.
